Javier Diaz is from Algonquin, IL. He graduated from Jacobs High School where he participated in ILMEA All-State and District Choirs and received National School Choral Award. He then attended Millikin University where he received his undergraduate degree under the direction of Dr. Brad Holmes. During his time at Millikin he was apart of the Millikin University Choir where he had the opportunity to sing all over the United States and England. After teaching a couple of years in central Illinois Dr. Joe Grant offered him an assistantship opportunity at the University of Illinois where he received his master's degree in music education under.Â
Mr. Diaz began his teaching journey in central Illinois in a small town called Hoopeston Home of the Cornjerkers. Where he taught Middle and High School Show Choirs and Concert Choirs. He now has been teaching at Round Lake Middle School for the last 12 years. Throughout Mr. Diaz's time in Round Lake , he has grown the after-school choir program into an over 100 student curricular choir. He has also been featured in the Daily Herald and been awarded the ISBE Those Who Excel Award. He enjoys sharing his love for music with his students and he loves showing students that anything is possible if you take the time that is needed to succeed.
Mr. Diaz's most prized possession is his family. Laura Diaz is his beautiful wife that works in the nursing field. His son Brady is a junior in high school striving to play collegiate baseball and his daughter Cadence is an 8th grader that loves to perform in the theater.
