Application & Audition Timeline |
This timeline is just for the music side of applications. You should still talk to your counselor about other college deadlines like general applications, early decision, FASFA, and other inmportant information.
JUNIOR YEAR March/April - Start looking at music schools and get an idea of what field they want go into Summer - Look at audition pieces and each school's audition requirements SENIOR YEAR August - Look for and begin taking private lessons on a weekly basis if not already studying with a separate instructor September - Finalize audition music and schedule you audition dates and times if possible October - Contact music professors you would be studying with at each school: introduce yourself, inquire about the process, possibly schedule a lesson before the audition, and ask for additional resources to be successful in the audition November - Know all of your music and other required audition material inside and out; Some auditions may be as early as November December - Practice for others; feel comfortable performing your piece in front of anyone and in any enviroment January/February - Most of your auditions will fall in these months. |
