Patrick McGuire was born and raised in Round Lake and is a proud graduate of District 116. He attended Illinois State University on an oboe performance scholarship where he received a Bachelor of Music Education with emphases in band and choral music. He received a Masters of Music degree from Boston University and a Master of Arts in Theatre Directing from The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Prior to teaching in Round Lake, he taught in nine inner-city Chicago schools where he directed band for students in grades 4-12. Currently, Mr. McGuire teaches choir and general music at JTMMS. In addition to his curricular obligations, Mr. McGuire is also an 8th grade Mentor Program sponsor and the Theatre Director at RLHS.
Apart from his teaching duties, Mr. McGuire is active musically and theatrically. As a performer, Mr. McGuire has worked in Madison, WI and the Chicago-area as a music director, freelance wind player, and vocalist. In addition, he is an active adjudicator, having adjudicated for numerous organizations, including the Illinois Theatre Association, the Illinois Grade School Music Association, the Illinois High School Association, and the Illinois Music Educators Association. Mr. McGuire can be heard on two CD's recorded on the Albany Records label and is member of the National Association for Music Education and The Educational Theatre Association.
