What instruments play in Winter Drumline?
Winter drumline consists of standard marching percussion instruments (snare, tenors, tonal bass drums, cymbals) as well as a front ensemble made up of mallet instruments and other concert percussion. Sometimes electric bass and synthesizer are included.
Can I learn a new instrument for Winter Drumline?
Absolutely! You do need to know how to read standard music notation, but percussion specific techniques will be taught in the first few rehearsals.
When Does Winter Drumline Rehearse?
After school on Wednesdays from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM and on Sundays from 1 PM to 3 PM. See the high school music calendar for exact dates.
Can I Be in Winter Drumline and a SPort or another after School Activity?
Of course! We will do our best to accommodate other activities, but it is up to you to make it work. This is a team activity and we need every member to be successful.
Students have to communicate their other activities early on. We can easily make it work when we have plenty of notice. What doesn't work and is not acceptable is coming to Mr. Stonehill with only a day or two notice saying that you won't be at rehearsal. (Our handbook also states that all absence requests must be submitted two weeks in advance.)
